interior design Infographic poster
Visual Design, Illustration
I designed an 18" x 24" infographic poster focused on an interior design concept, specifically the “whimsigoth” aesthetic. Popularized in the 90s, whimsigoth interior design is characterized by rich, dark colors, eclectic decor, and mystical elements, creating a space that feels both moody and gothic, yet warm and inviting. My goal was to create a visually appealing and informative poster that guides viewers through interior design tips in a fun and engaging way. I sourced images that embodied this style and built the tips around these photos, ensuring the poster effectively conveyed the aesthetic. To keep the design captivating, I incorporated splash graphics that reinforced the witchy, whimsical theme, making the content both informative and visually interesting.
brainstorming & research
Before starting the design process, I created a moodboard to gather inspiration for my poster. I drew inspiration from various scenes of including 90s “witchy” Hollywood media like Charmed and Practical Magic to drive my designs, as well as other infographic posters to see different ways of laying out text and content. Additionally, I did extensive research on interior design principles and how they are specifically applied to the whimsigoth aesthetic. I utilized all of these inspirations as a reference when making decisions on typography, layout, and overall design for my poster.

SKETCHES & PROCESS
final design
After refining my sketch, I designed the poster digitally, keeping most elements but framing the photos in an ornate, "gallery wall" style, inspired by maximalist design. I focused on hierarchy, ensuring the title, introduction, and groupings were clear. To enhance the visuals, I added graphics that matched the ornate frames and small mystical details, like geometric shapes and crystal glass accents, to bring the design together.
